This Psychiatric Hospital is built into the mountainside of a beautiful area on top of Helshoogte Pass and they needed a massive gabion retaining wall to retain a huge excavation for the newly build flank. They needed the structure to integrated with natural surroundings and to create a serene and tranquil environment for their patients. With the naturally steep incline of this site, we were faced with the challenge of creating a solution that is aesthetically pleasing and structurally strong to retain a 10meter clay embankment With the expansion of the hospital in 2020, we were awarded the opportunity to once again push the boundaries of industrial chic, incorporating a gabion wall 10meters high, using over 800tons of rock!
